Until now, the redecoration of historic buildings has not been straightforward. Old lime-wash and distemper coated surfaces have been covered with water-based paints and emulsions because they are cheap, easy to apply and readily available.

The use of these coatings is a mistake. It is a waste of time and money.

Why is this a problem?

The solid walls of old and historic buildings contain a considerable amount of moisture. When standard emulsions and masonary coatings are applied, the moisture becomes trapped. Eventually, it forces its way out and causes paint and plaster to flake and come away from the wall.

Not only does this present a serious cosmetic problem, it also is costly to resolve.

Elite Heritage offers the traditional appearance of the original coatings with the added benefits of durability, ease of application and complete stain covering.

Elite Heritage is 100% micro-porous and allows vapour to pass through the surface, avoiding vapour pressure under the new paint film. This eliminates the accumulation of trapped water and allows the freshly coated substrate to dry out.

Elite Heritage is ideal for use in historic buildings with highly decorative plaster-work. Its high-opacity stain-blocking properties mean that only a thin coat need be applied to the surface, ensuring that the suface detail doesn’t become clogged, distorted and lost.

Elite Heritage is a cheaper and more modern coating than “Tradition” and will save money without compromise of quality.

Due to its anti-mildew and anti-mould characteristics, Elite Heritage is especially suitable for applications where changing humidity, leading to mildew and mould growth, is a common problem, such as the interior of churches, monasteries, manor houses, concert halls and castles.

Elite Heritage has been developed for use on the following substrates with minimal preparation:

  • Soft distemper
  • Lime-wash
  • Chalking substrates
  • Old paint films
  • Dried water stains
  • Soot & fire residues
  • Textured finishes
  • Cold surfaces
  • Mortar
  • Stone
  • Wood

Summary

  • Zero tension film
  • Stain covering properties
  • Active mould resistance
  • Rapid hardening
  • Washable
  • Non-yellowing
  • Non saponifiable

Remarks
The substrate must be dry, clean and coherent prior to application. Old flanking paint applications must be removed by dry brushing or etching prior to application.

Elite Heritage is compatible with the most common tinting systems which are available in the market (a preliminary test is advisable). Applied by brush, roller or airless spray 0.15 tip.
